Student Project: A museum exhibit

While teaching a Introduction to Spain's literatures and cultures, at The Ohio State University, Christian designed a project aimed to encourage student initiative in their own learning while practicing critical skills such as research, synthesis, presentation, and public speaking. Students had the opportunity to design their own museum exhibits around some of the topics covered in the class.

This assignment had three parts:

  1. A rational that aimed to explain the nature and objectives of the museum exhibit in a way similar to a project proposal.
  2. A set of materials that conveyed the necessary visuals for the exhibition such as materials showcased, space organization, and flyers with the appropriate narrative.
  3. A class presentation that summarized the project with and emphasis on the objectives and a brief excerpt of the pieces shown.
  4. A student centered feedback process that give their classmates the power to provide comprehensible feedback and make them part of the grading component.

This project made students responsible of a research and educational project at the same time that fostered creative thinking and encouraged them to practice their collaborative abilities.

Below is one example of what one of the groups produced for this project.
